Things to Do in South Padre Island

Whether you have a free evening or a few hours before sessions begin, South Padre Island has plenty to offer. Here are some local favorites to get you started.

Attractions

Sea Turtle, Inc.

6617 Padre Blvd — Tue–Sun, 10am–4pm

A beloved SPI institution, Sea Turtle Inc. rescues and rehabilitates injured sea turtles. Educational, inspiring, and a must-do for first-time visitors.

Laguna Madre Nature Trail

7355 Padre Blvd — Free, open daily

Right next to the convention center! A free boardwalk trail through coastal marshes with stunning bird watching, wildlife sightings, and a beautiful sunset observation deck over the bay.

Henrietta's Bayfront Restaurant

1707 Laguna Blvd — Daily, 11am–10pm (11pm Fri–Sat)

Upscale bayfront dining with stunning sunset views, an impressive wine list, and standout dishes like beef short rib and fresh Gulf seafood. A great choice for a special dinner out.

Viva

202 W Whiting St — Daily, 11:30am–10pm

Ocean-view dining with fresh tacos, seafood, and great margaritas. Happy hour all day on Mondays and half-off wine on Wednesdays make it a crowd favorite.

Nautico Island Grill

1313 Padre Blvd — Daily, 11am–9pm

A casual island favorite known for fresh shrimp tacos, ceviche, and Tex-Mex plates. Great atmosphere and friendly service make it an easy pick for lunch or dinner.

Bars & Nightlife

LongBoard Bar and Grill

205 W Palm St — Daily from 11am (until 2am Fri–Sat)

A lively waterfront bar and grill with live music, outdoor seating on the dock, and a great selection of food and drinks. One of SPI's most popular spots for an evening out.

Tequila Sunset Bar & Grill

200 W Pike St — Daily from 11:30am until 2am

Bayfront views, live music, and killer sunsets. Dog-friendly patio, great margaritas, and a relaxed atmosphere — perfect for unwinding after a full conference day.

Quarterdeck — Isla Grand Beach Resort

500 Padre Blvd — Daily from 11am until 2am

Live bands, karaoke, hermit crab races, and two bars under one roof. A fun, only-in-SPI experience that's hard to top for a group night out.
