A Message From the TASFAA President

• A Message From the TASFAA President •

Hello TASFAA Colleagues and Friends!

The TASFAA Board of Directors met this week at the Trellis Building in Round Rock. Several important items were shared by committee chairs which I would like to pass on to the membership.

Corporate Sponsorship:  The 2019-2020 Sponsorship Form is now available and includes many opportunities for corporate sponsorship for the upcoming Spring Regional Training Workshops, New Aid Officers Workshop, and the Fall Conference. Sponsorship is so important to the life of our organization. Without this support, we would not be able to accomplish many of the training and professional development activities we provide. A big thank you to all of our sponsors!!

For more information concerning TASFAA sponsorship opportunities, contact Sergio Gonzales, [email protected].

Spring Regional Training:  Spring Regional Training Workshops are right around the corner and will include federal and state updates as well as an opportunity for participants to receive NASFAA credentialing in Professional Judgment. Workshops are scheduled as follows:

  • March 23, 2020  /  El Paso, El Paso Community College
  • March 26, 2020  /  Houston, University of Houston at Sugarland
  • March 30, 2020  /  San Antonio, St. Mary’s University
  • April 8, 2020  /  DFW, Colin County College
  • April 15, 2020  /  Lubbock, Texas Tech University

For more information concerning the upcoming spring regional workshops, contact Melissa Bohnsack, [email protected], or Leandra Garcia, [email protected].

New Aid Officers Workshop:  The annual New Aid Officers Workshop will be held April 22 - 24 this year (instead of the traditional May timeframe) at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. This promises to be an excellent training opportunity for new aid officers as well as seasoned aid officers needing a basic refresher.

For more information concerning the upcoming workshop for new aid officers, contact D. Ingram, [email protected], or Mariah Fournier, [email protected].

Fall Conference:  Though still several months away, the annual Fall Conference will be here before we know it!  Mark your calendars to join your friends and colleagues in San Antonio at the Wyndham Riverwalk October 7-9 and/or the ABC’s preconference workshop beginning on October 6.

For more information concerning the upcoming annual conference, contact Dede Gonzales, [email protected] , or Michelle Toney, [email protected]

Nominations and Elections:  Be on the lookout for the beginning of our nominations process for President-Elect and Board positions. Your participation in this process as a nominee and/or a nominator is so important to the life of our organization. Nominations will begin next week and will go through March 23rd

For more information concerning this process, contact Karen Krause, [email protected]

Please feel free to reach out to me or any of our TASFAA leaders if you have questions, suggestions, or concerns.
