Past President’s Report and
President’s Advisory Council Report

By Kathy Bassham, Director of Financial Aid, Weatherford College

I have been reviewing the responsibilities of the Past President over the last several months in an effort to be able to assist Lisa to the best of my ability. One of those duties is to act as the Parliamentarian of the Association. I am asking that Rick Renshaw and Carolyn Jones share those duties in my absence.

Another duty that is actually assigned to the Secretary/Historian but has become by practice the duty of the Past President is to complete the Timeline at the end of the year. I have been attempting to get this complete and to ATAC for posting to the website and I am hoping to have this task accomplished before I leave the office on Friday, May 16th. However, it will be finished no later than the end of June 2008.

I am happy to report that the PR Committee, under the able direction of Mike Hall and Carolyn Jones, did an outstanding job of preparing the TASFAA Annual Report for this last year. Per direction from the Board, it has been posted to the website and copies were sent to the presidents/chancellors, state legislators, Texas delegates and TASFAA partners as identified at our last board meeting. I have received a very thoughtful letter from Sen. Judith Zaffirini thanking me for sending the report out and encouraging our association in our endeavors.

In addition to serving on several committees for the association, the Past President also serves as Chair of the President’s Advisory Council for Planning and Evaluation Committee (PAC). With your indulgence, I am presenting my report for that committee as a part of the Past President’s Report.

President’s Advisory Council (PAC) Report
Lisa has asked that this committee continue to operate as an ad hoc committee for this year in an effort to continue the work begun on the TASFAA Strategic Initiative and Goals. She has also given this committee, as a part of this initiative, the directive to review the membership criteria as well as membership fees for the association. Lisa submitted to our committee for our review information about state associations in Vermont, California, Utah, Massachusetts, Tennessee, New Mexico and Pennsylvania. I contacted several of our association’s past presidents and asked them to serve on this committee for this year. The majority of them were very glad to continue their service to TASFAA. We had planned to meet at the TG Conference in April. Unfortunately, the chair decided to become very ill and could not attend. Our next line of attack on this project will be to meet electronically so that proposals can be presented to the Board at the July meeting.

No Board action is required at this time.
