President-Elect Report

October is getting here a lot quicker than I expected. I guess the only saying, “time flies when you’re having fun,” is true, or in this case, “when you’re too busy to look up and see what time it is!”

The leadership team for next year is nearly complete. Elections will be held shortly to determine the new board members for 2008-09. I am almost complete with all of the chairs for next year’s committees. Three committee chair positions are still unfilled for next year – Awards, Communications Network, and Regional Training. If you are interested in chairing one of these committees, please contact me as soon as you read this article to let me know of your interest.

I am working with Joyce Fox and the Conference Committee to set up an orientation and planning retreat for the 2008-09 leadership team on the Monday preceding the Fall Conference at the convention hotel. With the 80th Texas state legislative session just around the corner, this looks to be a very busy year for TASFAA. Add to that Federal Re-Authorization and the ever-changing student loan landscape, and you have a formula for the perfect storm. I know the new board and committee chairs will be up to the task and ready to go when October arrives.

Start thinking now about where you want to serve this next year on the TASFAA committees. Your service is critical to the success and health of your association. The call for volunteers for 2008-09 will be going out very soon. I hope you will respond to the call for help. You will be glad you did!
