So
exactly what is a MERV? MERV is an acronym for Mobile Education Resource Vehicle and is the key component of COSTEP’s highly visible outreach strategy. It can be seen on high school and college campuses throughout Texas. MERV is a state-of-the-art recreational vehicle measuring thirty-seven feet from bumper to bumper, 12 feet-nine inches from the ground up with an interior head room of seven feet. OK, Yao Ming and Tim Duncan will have to duck. COSTEP’s MERV is outfitted with nine computer work stations, each with a flat screen monitor permanently set into place, resource materials and television monitors positioned throughout the vehicle. Also, MERV is handicap accessible. The interior is designed with students in mind. The color scheme is brilliant and attractive with orange, purple, red, grey and lime green appointments that all come together to give the interior a bright, attractive look.
At COSTEP the staff refers to MERV as “the new MERV.” The old MERV was recently decommissioned after helping over 20,000 students and traveling over 175,000 miles. The new MERV is already burning up the road with hundreds of students taking advantage of COSTEP’s services. MERV offers a variety of resources including an instant link to the internet which allows students to fill out the FAFSA form with the aid of COSTEP personnel. It’s a unique, fun classroom on wheels. Look for the MERV to come to a high school or college near you. "It's gorgeous, nice, and well put together with state of the art IT technology." – Barbara Grewe, Associate Director of NE Campus Student Financial Services For more information about COSTEP’s MERV, contact Adam Gonzalez, Senior Vice-President of Business Development and Operations, at 1-956-971-3304. |
