ATLE Update

The Association of Texas Lenders for Education (ATLE) is pleased to announce that it is again taking applications for its second annual $l,000 Financial Aid Employee Scholarship award. Application deadline is July 31, 2006.

You will find criteria, information, and entry forms on the ATLE web site, www.atle.org. The scholarship is to be awarded to a daughter or son whose parent or legal guardian, as defined by the FAFSA criteria, is a current employee of a FFELP participating Texas university, college, or proprietary school’s financial aid office. Last year’s recipient was Shane A. Rosenkrantz, son of Laurie Rosenkrantz, Assistant Dean of Financial Aid, University of Dallas.

ATLE also awards three other $l,000 scholarships annually. These are awarded to two- or four-year public or private Texas colleges or universities, as well as Texas proprietary schools, that participate in the FFELP program. The state is divided into three regions and a school is randomly selected from each region. That school then selects the scholarship recipient based on ATLE criteria. This year’s recipients are:

• Tarleton State University – Amy M. Edwards
• Southwestern Assemblies of God Universities – David Guretzmacher
• Laredo Community College – Ignacio J. Edwards
