SWASFAA Texas Delegate Report

This was my first SWASFAA Board meeting. Thank you for the opportunity to be the SWASFAA Texas Delegate-at-Large. Among the information reported was the good news that Louisiana will have its fall conference October 25-27th in Lake Charles, LA. Alvina Thomas, LASFAA president, also stated New Orleans will be ready for a SWASFAA conference in 2009.

Please remember to mark your calendar for SWASFAA’s Annual Conference in November to be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The SWASFAA Boot Camp will be held November 6-8 and the conference will be November 8-9.

SWASFAA still needs volunteers on some committees. State presidents have been asked to follow up.

SWASFAA is continuing with the development of a SWASFAA Professional Development Scholarship. The stated purpose is “To help defray the cost of professional development for individuals who would otherwise not be able to attend the SWASFAA Annual Conference or other SWASFAA activities/training due to institutional budgetary constraints.”

Plans are in process for organizing decentralized training for year 2006.
