Second Annual Commitment to Student Success Award Recipients Honored at TASFAA
By Maria Luna-Torres

Congratulations to Texas State University-San Marcos and the University of Texas-Pan American! TG and the Council for the Management of Educational Finance are pleased to announce the Texas award recipients for this year's Commitment to Student Success Awards. These two institutions have been recognized for their exceptional default prevention and debt management efforts.

The Commitment to Student Success Awards program recognizes institutions that have performed extraordinarily well in the areas of debt management and default aversion. This is the second year for TG and the Council to present this national recognition program.

All Title IV-eligible institutions that participate in any of the federal student loan programs were invited to apply for consideration for the award. A team of financial aid professionals from all sectors of higher education reviewed the applications and selected the award recipients.

Both institutions receiving the award were recognized at TASFAA's annual conference on October 5. Each recipient was presented with a plaque and each institution was publicly recognized at the local, state, and national levels as follows:

  • Letters of recognition were sent to the institution's president and state and federal elected officials.
  • An announcement in NASFAA's Transcript will appear in the 2006 spring edition.

TG and the Council for the Management of Educational Finance thank all the institutions who applied for the award program. Other institutions receiving the award included California State University-Sacramento and GateWay Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.
