President's Message
By Pat Jost

The time has come for the annual audit, fall reports and a new class of students. I hope your enrollment is up and that you are near the end of your awarding cycle.

The Orientation for Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs was held in San Antonio on July 25, 2005. Presentations included the TASFAA website’s capabilities and enhancements, Constitution and By-Laws/Policies and Procedures, and Budget and Expense Voucher procedures. I appreciate Marcus Wilson, Board Member, Linda Gonzales-Hensgen, Past President, and Tia Clary, Treasurer for their assistance with preparation and presentation of these topics.

The Board met in San Antonio on July 26 and 27.

  • Lyn Wheeler, Vice President, sent the call for committee volunteers. If you served on one or more of the committees last year, thank you! If you did not, consider devoting some of your expertise to one of our committees. Your help is needed and appreciated.

  • Martin Hernandez, Chair of the Nominations Committee, is completing the list of candidates who will run for office for the 2005-2006 academic year. The ballot will include nominations for President-Elect, five Board Members, and an Associate Representative at Large. If you are responsible for casting a vote, please watch the list serve for voting procedures.

  • Don Buehrer, Fall Conference Committee Chair reported the progress for fall conference in El Paso. The agenda is complete and will be posted soon on our website. I am pleased that we are ahead of schedule and look forward to spending time with you in El Paso. The Mack Adams Scholarship for the ABC’s workshop will be posted next week. If you or someone you know qualifies for this benefit, I encourage you to complete the scholarship application to attend this training session.

  • Lou Murry, Chair of the Association, Activities and Resources Committee and Jim Anderson, Vice Chair presented the most resent updates to our new research database. Look for the announcement of this outstanding project at Fall Conference.

The 2004-2005 Board will meet in El Paso on October 4 from 1:00 until 5:00, October 5 from 8:00 am until 11:30 am and October 6 from 5:00 pm until 5:45 pm. You are invited to attend.

I look forward to seeing you in El Paso.
