New to financial aid? Need cash for school?

TASFAA is offering a scholarship for The New Aid Officer’s Workshop, “We Be Nu”, May 15-21, 2005. This scholarship will help defray the cost for professional development by individuals who cannot attend financial aid conferences and training seminars because of budgetary constraints.

The scholarship was established to recognize Mr. Mack C. Adams who served the financial aid profession for 39 years. Mr. Adams began his career in student financial assistance at Southern Methodist University, serving from 1956-1971 as the Director of Special Services, which included responsibility as Coordinator of Student Financial Aid. Mr. Adams served as Assistant Commissioner for Student Services for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board from 1971 until his retirement in July of 1995. In this office, he held responsibility for all of the State’s student financial aid and related programs, which numbered about thirty-eight.

Criteria:
The Scholarship Committee will consider budgetary constraints, individual desire for professional growth, job responsibilities in relation to program agenda and previous institutional scholarships received. All applicants must be TASFAA members with current membership dues paid in full.

Amount:
Amount will include the cost of registration fees, food, lodging, and travel as allowed by TASFAA travel reimbursement guidelines. TASFAA will not pay for a rental car without prior board approval.

Deadline:
Applications will be due on April 11th with an award/denial notice by May 2nd.
