Mark your calendars for the SWASFAA Fall conference and Boot Camp being held Dec. 13-17, 2004 in New Orleans. |
SWASFAA
Update SWASFAA elections were held in late July and August. Although Texas did not have a delegate position open for the election, the President-elect position did include one Texas candidate, Rick Renshaw, on the ballot. The results of the election announced on August 12 were as follows:
I personally want to thank each of you who supported me with your vote. I am looking forward to serving SWASFAA as President-elect in 2005 and as President in 2006. Since my term as Texas Delegate-at-large was not due to expire until the end of 2005, the SWASFAA president will appoint someone to fill the position for the remainder of that term. If you know someone who might be interested in serving on the SWASFAA board, please contact either Linda Gonzalez-Hensgen or Jim Lane so the recommendation can be passed on to the SWASFAA president through our TASFAA leadership. Also, as president-elect, I will be looking for volunteers to serve as committee vice-chairs for the 2005 association year. If you are interested in becoming involved in SWASFAA in a leadership role, please let me know of your interests. The Fall conference and Boot Camp this year will be in New Orleans at the Fairmont Hotel. To reserve your room, you can call the hotel at 504-529-7111. The room rate for the conference is $129.00. The conference will meet Wednesday, December 15 through Friday, December 17, preceded by the Boot Camp on December 13-15. The theme for the conference this year is “Fabulous 40+ !” to celebrate SWASFAA’s forty-plus years of providing service to the colleges and students of the Southwest. The on-line registration should be up on the web site by the time you read this article. For more information on the conference go to www.swasfaa.org and link to the conferences page. As I have continued to remind you throughout this past year, starting with the 2005 membership year, SWASFAA is changing to an institutional membership structure. Dues will be based on prior year headcount for member schools. The dues structure will be: Less than 3000 - $50; 3001 to 7000 - $75; 7001 and up - $100; There will be a flat membership fee for associate members of $150. Individual memberships will still be $35 to those who qualify. Very shortly, each school will be receiving a SWASFAA membership brochure describing the purpose of SWASFAA and the benefits provided with the school’s membership in the association. |
