 TG Update
By Cynthia Mayberry, TG

AdvanTG Web™ Update
We are continuing to receive positive feedback on AdvanTG Web. On June 6th, Cedar Valley Community College in Lancaster became the 100th school to implement AdvanTG Web. Throughout this past month, we have been working with many of our lender partners to integrate AdvanTG Web into their operations as well.

As always, our goal is to provide you with choices that improve your processes. If you have any questions about AdvanTG Web, please contact your School Consultant or TG Customer Services at (800) 332-1455. You may also send an e-mail message to customer.services@tgslc.org.

Renewed Interest Rates
The first of this month marked the date that new interest rates went into effect for existing Federal Stafford, SLS, and PLUS loans. If you haven’t already, visit our Interest Rates page on the Web at http://www.tgslc.org/resources/intrates.cfm. Available on this page is a PDF that outlines the change in interest rates for these variable rate loans, including loans with first disbursements from July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2004. For lenders and servicers, we also have available a “Notice of Guarantee/Disclosure Statements and Interest Rate Addenda” to satisfy the interest rate disclosure requirement.

For additional information on the implementation of interest rates, search though past issues of Shoptalk Online at http://www.tgslc.org/shoptalk/index.cfm.

Loan Consolidation
TG just completed another successful Quarterly Telephone Conference covering the issue of counseling borrowers on loan consolidation options. The telephone conference, which was held on June 27th, included over 60 schools and other industry partners. All participants were provided with valuable information on how to handle increasing inquiries from borrowers interested in consolidation as an option. Handouts related to the telephone conference are now available at http://www.tgslc.org/custfocus/teleconf030626.cfm.

As part of TG’s effort to enhance information available to families and students, TG has announced the availability of “Consolidation Station,” a comprehensive one-stop Web resource for borrowers that offers resources and valuable information related to consolidation. “Consolidation Station” was launched on July 1, 2003, to correlate with the implementation of new interest rates. “Consolidation Station” is now available at http://www.tgslc.org/borrowers/consol.cfm.

New Revised Common Manual
The Common Manual has been revised, and TG is encouraging all school and other industry partners to take advantage of the revised information and helpful tools that have been enhanced to assist with policy and regulatory issues. To access the latest updates and learn more about the tools available, visit http://www.tgslc.org/resources/integrated_online_manual.cfm. Included in this page are:

  • The Integrated Common Manual (ICM),
  • Common Manual Updates (an explanation of policy changes),
  • A portable document file (PDF) of revised pages,
  • An archive of revised pages and Updates, and
  • A page of Tips and Tricks for online PDF searches.

As always, if you have any questions related to these tools, contact TG Customer Assistance at (800) 845-6267 or send an e-mail message to cust.assist@tgslc.org.
